MORE THAN JUST ANOTHER LOCAL NEWSPAPER.

Independent. Local. Unfiltered.

Welcome to The Dunsborough Observer.

An independent South West publication with a love for our communities, a healthy suspicion of nonsense and absolutely no interest in being another boring local noticeboard.

Founded in 2026, The Observer covers Dunsborough, Busselton and the wider South West, bringing together local news, community stories, investigations, forgotten history, business spotlights and a generous helping of satire.

We believe local journalism should ask difficult questions, celebrate good people, revisit the stories that shaped our towns and occasionally call out the absolute circus unfolding in the Facebook comments.

We're independently operated, locally focused and not afraid to ruffle a few feathers.

Our purpose is simple.

Give the community a voice, ask questions worth answering and tell stories people actually want to read.

Some days that's holding decision makers accountable.

Other days it's remembering the old milk bar, celebrating a local legend or wondering why an ordinary trip to ALDI has become a competitive endurance sport.

We take the stories seriously.

Ourselves? Not always.

Your Town. Your Stories. Our Big Mouth.
